July 19, 2010Universities? Yes, but …
August 5, 2010MBAE applauds the selection of Massachusetts as a Race to the Top finalist again in Round 2. We believe that the state’s proposal will continue our leadership as the highest achieving state in the nation and provides a blueprint for ensuring the preparation of our state’s students for success in college, career and citizenship.
MBAE has been a strong supporter of the state’s application and, in our letter to U.S. Secretary of Education, Arne Duncan, we pledge to “monitor and report on progress toward the goals and promises” found in the Commonwealth’s Race to the Top plan.
We will continue to provide information to the business community on the state’s progress, generating comparison charts and more detailed analyses, like our Budget Breakdown, which offer some insight on this complicated process.
You can find additional information on the state’s application, including the voluminous appendix, on the U.S. Department of Education’s Race to the Top Resources page. Further, on the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education page, you’ll find further summaries of the state’s plan and a detailed comparison between the Round 1 and Round 2 applications.
